What
was new in July 2000
July 31, 2000
Hey y'all sorry for the long break but
I was folk festing. Dar was smashing at Hillsdale in Guelph, Ont. And she
even didn't sing a song especially for me : ) I really wanted
her to sing Another Mystery, she said uh-uh but I'll sing After All. So
that was excellent.

Media Alert:
The August 5 issue of Billboard features a very prominent article on Dar
on page 13.
Thanks to Kerry Bernard for the info.
-
Dan Nooter has written a short missive on
the literary meaning of The Green World. It's a very interesting read so
I'm putting it in the library.
-
Dar told me they're going to be doing a video
for What Do You Love More Than Love. So there's something to look forward
to.
-
Katherine Wheatley will be opening for Dar
at the show in Toronto on Sept. 26. I listened to her CD and her lyrics
are witty and wise and she has some powerhouse Canadian performers playing
on the songs. I look forward to it.Tickets for the show will be available
(at last) next week from Richard Flohil at (416) 351-1323

Not much today I'm afraid.
I was, however, discussing opening acts for Dar's show in Toronto. There'll
be no Catie Curtis and no Toshi Reagon but a homegrown act. I'll let YOU
know when I know.

I'm going to be at Falcon
Ridge this weekend so there'll be no updates until Monday night, at the
earliest.

A short note from Patty
regarding Dar's Sept. 16 show at Penn State:
-
I called
for info on the September 16 -State College, PA show and was informed that
this show is currently a "those with student ID" show. I inquired
as to whether the public could possibly fill any unoccupied seats IF
there are any. I was told that they may be willing to accommodate
fans for a small fee, but students get first shot and the good seats because
it is paid for by the student activity fund. He said to call back
in a few weeks.

I've put up one of the
new series of press photos on the gallery.
As soon as I can lay my hands on more, I'll post them. Also on the gallery
page, you can link to a new wallpaper I created for the Green World.

the library.

A small update to the
FAQ.

There's a note
from Ron, Dar's manager, about overseas dates and some of the changes
made to her original fall tour schedule.
-
I dug up another radio broadcast, this time
of Cry, Cry, Cry from 1999 on Michigan Live's Acoustic Cafe. Links from
the library page.
-
Also added to the library
page is Dar's song-by-song introduction to End of the Summer. I know she
did these for at least EOTS and Mortal City but I've only been able to
find this one. If anyone knows where I might get the text for the others,
let me know.

I finally found the
copy of the article that Dar wrote from Ms. Magazine last fall. You can
read it at the library.
-
Added some photos I've
been scrounging around for to the gallery.
I'm still looking for the sepia-toned one of Dar with her hands up behind
her against a wall. She's got the shoulder-length hair. I got it from somewhere
and deleted it now can't remember where. So if anyone has copy of that
particular shot, it's one of my faves, please contact me.
July 3, 2000
A Dar biography is now up on the library
page.
