Ron Fierstein says he got over
80 e-mails with hundreds of ideas for the new live album title. He was
very impressed with the response. The winner will be announced by the end
of the week.

This from today's Boston Globe:
"A new form of TV: Perhaps
you've seen ''Inside the Actor's Studio,'' where film stars appear before
a student audience and answer questions about their careers. Could a similar
concept work for musicians? Well, Dar Williams and Margo Timmins (of the
Cowboy Junkies) must think so, because they recently
taped a pilot program of ''The
Chord'' at Berklee College of Music. It's the brainchild of producer/moderator
Jay Sweet of the local Planetary Group. He's now trying to shop the show
to cable stations. It sounds like a great idea."
Thanks to Joe Luca for the info.

Name that tune.
Talk about Dar interactive!
Here's a note from her manager Ron Fierstein promising not only immortality
but tickets for one bright spark:

As you may have heard, Razor &
Tie will be releasing a live album drawn from three shows during Dar's
band tour last Fall -- New York, Boston and Northhampton. While the
album will include a few songs from TGW, it focuses more on her entire
repertoire featuring really great performances of songs like Are You Out
There, As Cool as I Am (download above) and yes, The Babysitter.
The album will be in stores on September 25th, and Dar will be doing a
major market tour beginning September 29th in support of the release.
We'll be announcing those shows within the next few weeks.
We have one big problem though
- we have not been able to come up with a great name for the album.
While we've looked at many ideas, and do have a working title which is
OK, we're hoping for something inspired.
I thought it might be fun
to reach out to you guys to see if you could come up with something.
The uidelines I'd give are:
1 -- the title should somehow convey the fact that this is a live, as opposed
to a studio, album
2 -- succinct is good - for design and marketing reasons
We will consider all suggestions
received at my mail box before 10PM on Sunday evening, June 24th (mgrrkf@aol.com).
If we use someone's idea, the winner will receive, in addition to absolute
immortality in Dar circles, 4 free tickets to any of Dar's upcoming shows
(either this Summer or in the Fall), an advance copy of the album,
plus a credit on the album packaging itself.

Well I decided it was enough waiting
for the people at Dirty Linen magazine to answer my e-mails. Here's
the Folk Toy article in the
magazine's April/May 2001. Dar like you've never seen her before!!

It's DarWilliams.net's
first anniversary today. In the past year this site has grown from just
an idea to a comprehensive resource for information on Dar Williams and
her fans' activities. This site gets about 100 visitors a day. In
honour of this auspicious occasion, I've redesigned the front page of the
site. Hope you all like it.
I want to thank
everyone for your continued support and to once again say that I'd love
to host anything creative that is of or inspired Dar or her -- be it art,
poetry, photos, wallpapers, themes, parodies or projects. I can always
be reached at ohcanadagail@darwilliams.net.
Things are a bit slow right now, but that's because Dar is doing very few
shows and there's not much other activity in her camp! But keep coming
back because there's always something new.

Well I had another computer
meltdown over the weekend. So if anybody is feeling particularly generous
and has a new laptop they'd love for me to own, you know how to get in
touch with me!!! : )

This has been out for a while
but I just recently heard about it.
Dar does has a cameo role
in
the Ms. Folk America video -- its a parody of the Boston folk scene
starring Kris Delmhorst, Catie Curtis, Meghan Toohey, Jennifer Kimball,
Faith Soloway, and Mary Gauthier. Written and directed by Faith Soloway.
There are some other cool cameos (jess klein, vance gilbert,
lori mckenna.......). Click
here for details. Thanks
to Jess B for the information.

BIG NEWS:
Dar
is engaged. I've been sitting on this fabulous news for weeks but she brought
it up at the show in Annapolis last night, so. . . There's no date set
but she is engaged to a very cute fellow named Michael, who hails from
New York City. She's wearing a very shiny rock on her finger and says she's
learning to work around it as she plays : ) That's all I know for now.
Updates as they trickle in.
