Here's a synopsis and the cover art for Dar's children's book, which is being released on June 1.

Amalee's used to chaos, because of the frequent presence of her father's bantering, bickering group of fun friends, but when Amalee's dad becomes seriously ill, the chaos takes new forms. This is the first novel by singer/songwriter Williams. Scholastic, Ages 9-12, 240 pp., 5/1/2004.

Sharon Goldberg has got a program organized for fans who would like to make donations in honour of the upcoming birth Dar and Michael's first baby. Details are on the Fans page.

Ron, Dar's manager, says The Green World and the Beauty of the Rain will be released in the new 5.1 surround sound DVD-A format. All her recordings are being remixed but he expects the first two to be out hopefully in May. Get more details in the news section.
He also notes Dar's book Amalee, will be in stores by May.

The Patty Griffin Site is running a birthday fund drive until Patty's Birthday on March 16 at 5 p.m EST. They PM eastern. Therewere just sent a box of Dar Williams promo CD's from "Beauty fo the Rain" to use as gifts. So for everyone who makes a US$10 donation to the fund drive in co-operation with the Vietnam Veterans Foundation, will get one of the promo CD's. Go to www.vvaf.org to make a donation and then send a copy of the email confirmation to pattygriffinbirthdaydrive@yahoo.com along with a note saying "Dar Williams Special" and you will get a copy of the promo CD.
Also, the guitar auction (below), ends on Sunday, so get yer bids in.

The Patty Griffin birthday guitar auction is up and running. As mentioned, there are two guitars in there that are signed by Dar. All the guitars can be found on e-bay. All the guitars are a generic brand that does not have a name on them. They are made by the same people who make the Johnson model guitars. They retail for US$119.99. They used these guitars as not to infringe or any of the artist contracts with their guitar companies. All guitars are full size.

A guitar signed by Dar and another special songwriters tour guitar autographed by Patty Griffin, Dar Williams, Catie Curtis, Shawn Colvin and Mary Chapin Carpenter will be auctioned off on e-bay starting this Sunday, March 7th as part of the Patty Griffin Birthday Fund Drive to benefit the VVAF's "Campaign for A Landmine Free World." There will also be guitars from a slew of other singer/songwriters. The auction will start about 1:00PM eastern time on March 7th to find it seach under Patty or Dar's name.

Dar's song The One Who Knows will be included in the 2-disc compilation ParkinSong, Volume One: 38 Songs of Hope, due out May 11. It is a fundraiser to fight Parkinson's Disease. Among the contributors are Bonnie Raitt, Neko Case, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Lucy Kaplansky, and Catie Curtis. Details.
